Rosethorn Cottage :: Inch Island, Donegal

Rosethorn Cottage ::

Tariff 2009

Rosethorn Cottage is located on an elevated site on Inch Island and overlooks Lough Swilly. It enjoys one of the finest panoramic sea views to be found anywhere in County Donegal or indeed, Ireland. Looking westwards across the Lough the village of Rathmullan with its kilometres of sandy beach, pier and small marina can be clearly seen. The house also has views of Inch Harbour.

A car ferry runs across the Lough connecting Rathmullan to Buncrana and from its elevated position you can watch the entire 30 minute journey from the living room of Rosethorn. In the evening you can relax and watch the sailing boats make their way back to the marinas at Fahan and Rathmullan. Directly beneath the house there is a little harbour which provides safe haven for local fishing boats. There is also a small beach close to the house.

Inch Island is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway and is largely fertile on it's eastern side while its western side, where St Therese is located, has steep mountain side and a a coastline punctuated by little harbours and a few sandy beaches. A 20 min. drive southwards takes you to the historic City of Derry while Inishowen's main town, Buncrana, is a 15 min. drive to the north. There a few very good restaurants in the village of Fahan and a fabulous sandy beach.

- Golf at Lisfannon
- Bird watching
- Boat charter on Lough Swilly (Rathmullan)
- Leisure centre with swimming pool (Buncrana)
