A car ferry runs across the Lough connecting Rathmullan to Buncrana and from its elevated position you can watch the entire 30 minute journey from the living room of Rosethorn. In the evening you can relax and watch the sailing boats make their way back to the marinas at Fahan and Rathmullan. Directly beneath the house there is a little harbour which provides safe haven for local fishing boats. There is also a small beach close to the house. Inch Island is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway and is largely fertile on it's eastern side while its western side, where St Therese is located, has steep mountain side and a a coastline punctuated by little harbours and a few sandy beaches. A 20 min. drive southwards takes you to the historic City of Derry while Inishowen's main town, Buncrana, is a 15 min. drive to the north. There a few very good restaurants in the village of Fahan and a fabulous sandy beach.
