Rosie McCools Cottage - Lettermacaward

Rosie McCools Cottage is a lovely 2 bedroom holiday home which overlooks the Rosses coastline in West Donegal. The cottage is situated in a peaceful location just over 3km from the small village of Lettermacaward and just 4km from the superb Dooey Strand. The holiday home is also within easy driving distance of 3 of the main tourist towns in West Donegal – Dungloe, Glenties and Ardara.

The cottage itself enjoys panoramic sea and mountain views.  These views can best be appreciated from the living room and from the wonderful decking area to the side of the cottage. A large sloping front lawn is an ideal playground for children.

An Ideal Touring Base for West Donegal

A short drive from the holiday home is the fabulous Dooey Strand  - a 3km long beach with views west across Gweebarra Bay to Narin and Portnoo. Dooey is popular with surfers and its length and flatness make it ideal for sand yachting as well as walking and kite flying.  The nearby village of Lettermacaward lies just to the north of the Gweebarra eastuary and has a shop and 3 pubs. The pubs regularly feature music during the holiday season. The Gweebarra river which flows from Lough Barra into the Gweebarra Bay is a popular angling destination (permits required).The area around Rosie McCools Cottage is wonderful walking terrain. There are two waymarked Ways in the general Rosses area - Sli na Rossan and Sli Na Finne

• Visit the Daniel O Donnell Visitor Centre in Dungloe
• Find numerous peaceful roads, coastal walks, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk
• Go fishing on the Gweebarra River or on the many lakes in the Rosses area
• Go sea angling from Burtonport 
• Take a day trip to  Aranmore Island
• Enjoy some on the major festivals in nearby towns including the internationally renowned Mary from Dungloe Festival, and the Glenties Harvest Fair
• Visit Glenveagh National Park, with 16,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, wood and bogs. Glenveagh contains the largest red deer population in Europe.  Within the National Park Glenveagh Castle and gardens are well worth a visit on their own
• Take a day trip to the Cliffs at Slieve League

The holiday cottage has a bright modern fitted kitchen with a tiled floor. Appliances available include electric oven and hobs, microwave and fridge freezer. A washing machine is also available. An adjacent dining area has a table and 6 chairs.

The large furnished decking area to the side of the cottage provides an alternative dining area.

The holiday cottage has a cosy living room with open fireplace. The room enjoys sea and mountain views. For home entertainment there is a tv with dvd player
