Rosie's Cottage is a family owned tradtional Irish thatched cottage located in the heart of the Inishowen Peninsula. Located on a quiet country lane (L5571) just off the main Malin Road, Rosie's Cottage is a peaceful, holiday retreat. The cottage has been recently renovated to a very high standard, while keeping the original character of the building.
The kitchen was resigned to include all mod cons but still keeps the "country kitchen" style with solid pine units, traditional dresser and a Belfast sink. The cottage still retains the original open fireplace and also has a pitched ceiling which is a common feature in traditional Irish thatched cottages.
Local amenities including supermarkets, pubs and restaurants are within walking distance of the cottage. Public transport is available throughout the peninsula when venturing a little further afield and we would be happy to advise you on the best ways of getting around the area.
The garden area is secured by gates and there is also a gate separating the front and back of the cottage. Cars can be parked in the driveway. There is a stream behind the cottage which runs into a pond. This feature makes Rosie's Cottage a unique, special location and is always a talking point for our visitors! Ducks are kept in the pond and can be seen diving in for a swim every morning.
Carndonagh is the main town of northern Inishowen and is an important educational and shopping centre. The local area has been an ecclesiastical centre of note for many centuries. Best known of its historical and archaeological remains is the 7th century Donagh Cross, located along the western approach to the town. Not far away are the attractive small towns or villages of Malin and Culdaff. Malin is a past winner of the title of Ireland’s tidiest town. Culdaff is the birthplace, in 1690, of the playwright Charles Macklin.
The kitchen was resigned to include all mod cons but still keeps the country style with solid pine units, traditional dresser and a Belfast sink.
The main living area of the cottage still retains the original open fireplace and also has a pitched ceiling which is a common feature in traditional Irish thatched cottages.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 5. Both bedrooms have views onto the front garden
Bedroom 1: spacious double bedroom with storage and wood burning stove
Bedroom 2: bunk beds plus a single bed, with storage
The shower room is located next to the bedrooms and has electric shower, toilet and handbasin.
The garden area is secured by gates and there is also a gate separating the front and back of the cottage. Cars can be parked in the driveway. There is a stream behind the cottage which runs into a pond. This feature makes our thatched cottage a unique, special location and is always a talking point for our visitors! Ducks are kept in the pond and can be seen diving in for a swim every morning.
