About 15km away to the west, a short drive gets one to Irelands most northerly point at Malin Head. Further south into the peninsula, lie the towns of Carndonagh, Ballyliffin and Clonmany. The famous Ballyliffin Golf Club, with its old and new links would satisfy any golf enthusiast. In the same area, The Isle of Doagh Visitor Centre, with its outdoor museum of a replica 'famine village' set in 1840's Ireland is not to be missed. In late November and December, the centre transforms into 'Santa's Grotto' and is extremely popular with both young and old. An early Christian 7th century stone cross is displayed in Carndonagh, and near Clonmany, the magnificent Glenevin Waterfall - which reveals itself after a pleasant walk through the nearby woodland. At the southern end of the peninsula, the 'Griannan of Aileach' a well preserved ancient stone ring fort looks out over the summit of a hill from which at least 4 counties are visible towards the south. To the north, one can see Lough Swilly and Lough Foyle and the city of Derry to the east.
