The two identical cottages are situated right in the heart of Ballyliffin, back to back, a mirror image of each other.
The east facing cottage looks onto the road between Clonmany and Carndonagh, that leads to the Golf Course, while the west facing cottage has a larger frontage with the quieter Shore Road in front of it. Parking for both cottages will be on the west cottage grounds. A paved pathway around the complex allows external access between the cottages.
Each cottage has three upstairs bedrooms to sleep five. with a sleeper couch in the living room to sleep two. There are two en-suites, a main bathroom and a separate toilet off the utility room. The kitchen is fully equipped, and fitted with modern units, and includes a dining area. The lounge has comfortable leather upholstered seating, a TV with free-view satellite reception, and a traditional open fireplace. Newly built, modern construction, and fully insulated with double glazing , ensures that the cottages are warm in the winter months. Oil-fired central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included.
Ballyliffin is a small village on the road between the towns of Clonmany and Carndonagh. Perhaps the single-most cause of its rapid growth has been due to the popularity of its main attraction, which is the Ballyliffin Golf Club.
Formally established in 1947, the club has grown from strength to strength, with the original club in the Strand Hotel, members later had their own premises in a prefabricated structure. The new club building was completed in 1995. Today the club is considered to be one of the premier golf courses in Ireland. One of its unique features is the two links courses, the old links, and the new Glashedy links. Golf enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Inishowen also has courses at Redcastle, Greencastle and Buncrana.
Ballyliffin has five hotels, and most of them are within walking distance of the cottages, - very convenient if you fancy a meal in one of the restaurants, or a drink in the hotel bar. The golf club also has good catering facilities. If you would prefer the environment of the traditional Irish public house, a short drive down the road to Clonmany, will give you a choice of 8 pubs. Many of them will have traditional Irish music performed live on different nights of the week.
Just a little further, about 15-20 min. drive will bring you to Culdaff, where you can visit McGrorys, a unique establishment, famous for its live music shows, good food and great craíc.
The Isle of Doagh is the small peninsula separating Trawbraega Bay from the Atlantic. It is here where the golf course is situated, but also The Famine Village, a unique outdoor museum exhibiting displays of structures, models and tableaux depicting Ireland as it was in the 19th century, particularly during the great famine, when so many died or emigrated. The centre is well worth a visit, and is especially appealing to children and the young at heart, when it transforms into Santas Lapland in Nov-Dec. - Early booking for this event is essential to avoid disappointment.
Apart from golf, other activities include,
Hill Walking or Rambling, Horse riding and Pony Trekking, Cycling, Bird Watching, and many water-sports, including Swimming, Sub-Aqua Diving, Surfing from Pollan Beach, Sailing, Fishing etc.
The scenic natural beauty of the area is another reason why visitors are attracted to Inishowen. - a tour of the peninsula, in the comfort of your own car, by way of the route known as the Inishowen 100 will ensure that you will get to see much of the breathtakingly spectacular scenery that is on offer.
The fully equipped, fitted kitchen on a ceramic tiled floor has an adjoining utility room, leading on to a separate toilet and wash basin.
Integrated appliances include an electric hob and oven and a dishwasher. There is a freestanding fridge-freezer, a microwave, kettle and toaster. Essential crockery cutlery and cookware is also provided.
In the utility room, a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board are to be found.
The dining table has seating for six.
The lounge, on a wooden floor, has the traditional open fireplace, a large, comfortable three seater sofa, and two matching arm chairs upholstered in a dark leather. It is well illuminated, with plenty of natural light from a west facing window east facing on the other cottage and French doors which open to an access path on the north side of the cottages.
The TV is equipped with a DVD player and has free-view satellite reception.
There is a fold-out sofa-bed, should a sixth or seventh person wish to sleep here.
There are three upstairs bedrooms to sleep 5.
Two bedrooms each have double beds and en-suite shower rooms.
The third bedroom has a single bed.
A fold out sleeper-couch in the lounge allows for two additional people, allowing for a total of 7.
The main bathroom has a bath and an overhead shower with a folding partition, a basin and a toilet.
The two en-suites each have a shower, basin and toilet.
A separate toilet and basin is situated next to the utility room.
