Sailors Rest Cottage is a modern holiday chalet located in the charming village of Rathmullan in North West Donegal. The cottage is situated in a mature wooded area that overlooks Rathmullan's superb beach.

The cottage can accommodate up to 8 people in both style and comfort. On the ground floor there is an ensuite double/twin bedroom. On the first floor there is a double bedroom and a bedroom with a double bed and twin bunk bed.

The use of glass at the front of the cottage  floods the living area and the sun room with natural sunlight. Both these area are comfortably furnished and feature nautical themed decorations.

The cottage is situated in the mature woodland that surrounds the 4 star Rathmullan House Hotel.  This hotel has the award winning Weeping Elm restaurant. The Cellar Bar in the hotel has excellent bar food.

From the holiday chalet a very short walk through  woodland brings you to the beautiful sandy Rathmullan beach. A 5 minute walk will bring you to the centre of  Rathmullan village itself. The seaside resort of Rathmullan is now one of the most popular family holiday destinations in this beautiful part of Ireland. There is some  first-rate restaurants in the locality in addition to lively and friendly pubs.

Rathmullan has an equestrian centre and two modern sea charter boats for deep sea angling or sightseeing on Lough Swilly (The lake of Shadows). Fishing off the pier is a popular pastime and the small marina is a hive of activity in the summer months. The beach extends for over 2 km and is safe for bathing. The village is also steeped in history – the local Heritage Centre is based on The Flight of the Earls. The 400th anniversary of this famous event will be celebrated in 2007 with Rathmullan at the centre of the commemorations.

For the golf enthusiast Sailors Rest Cottage is an ideal base to play the great links courses of North Donegal. Portsalon Golf Club is 20 minutes along the spectacular Knockalla coast road while the two championship courses at Rosapenna are only half an hour away. During the summer months (June - September) the Rathmullan to Buncrana ferry brings the two superb courses at Ballyliffin within a 50 minutes journey from the cottage.

Sailors Rest Cottage is also an ideal base to explore the natural beauty of North Donegal. Some of the best beaches in the country are in this area – including the magnificent blue flag beach at Portsalon and the wonderful Tramore strand at Downings

The majestic Glenveagh National Park, the family orientated Dunlewy Lakeside Centre, the beautiful Ards Forest Park and the scenic Atlantic Drive are all within an hours drive of the cottage. The Rathmullan to Buncrana ferry has brought the beautiful Inishowen peninsula and the historic walled city of Derry within easy reach.

Sailors Rest Cottage is 16 miles from Letterkenny which is the main town in County Donegal. Letterkenny has everything you would expect to find in a modern and thriving town including a 5 screen cinema, public swimming pool, urban park, a theatre, several indoor activity playgrounds for children and a wide variety of shops. The town will be the venue for the 2006 All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil
