The cottage is a tastefully decorated three bedroom dwelling that can sleep up to eight adults. Each bedroom has a double bed, and there is also a double sleeper couch in the lounge. A large fully fitted kitchen shares an open space with the dining room, and has a table with seating for six. Ablutions consist of a main bathroom, an en-suite, and a separate toilet next to the utility room. The lounge has the traditional open fireplace, is furnished with two large sofas, and has A TV with DVD. There is also a separate flat screen TV available in each bedroom. The perimeter of the property is fenced and surrounded by trees and shrubbery, with a large parking area to the side and front of the cottage. Most of the property is covered by a well kept lawn, with flower beds to the side and front, and the area is safe for children. Situated some 6km east of the village of Laghy, and not far from Donegal Town, the cottage is well situated as a touring base for southern Donegal and surroundings.
Some local attractions: Lough Eske, lies to the north; a beautiful ruined historical castle is now being renovated to a luxury hotel. Donegal is one of Ireland’s primary angling areas with many centres for salmon, sea and brown trout fishing, Lough Eske is one of the finest fishing loughs in the country. Donegal Town is the centre of activity for South Donegal. The town centre, the Diamond is where the Killybegs, Ballyshannon and Ballybofey roads converge and it is here that you are likely to meet almost anybody; usually with a smile on their face and a few ready words. The town dates back to Viking times when a fortress was established at the mouth of the river Eske. It is thought that this gave the town and ultimately the county its name, Dun na nGall, meaning "Fort of the Foreigners". It could also have been the earliest account of our reputation for hospitality !
Donegal Craft Village
is only 1km south of Donegal Town and features innovative Irish craft
including paintings, jewellery and ironmongery. Also the world famous
Magee Tweed shop is located in the
center of town.
Murvagh Beach (Blue
Flag) is situated on the south coast of Donegal and is located off
the N15 south of Donegal town. Rossnowlagh - 'The Heavenly Cove' is regarded by many as the most scenic and dramatic beach in the whole of the Northwest. The beach has fantastic views of the Donegal Bay coastline including Slieve League the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Set in a 4km crescent of golden sand with the sparkle of shimmering waves breaking on the beach, it is popular for all kinds of watersports, board sailing, surfing and water skiing. The magnificent beach provides ideal conditions for safe bathing (with lifeguard patrols), walking, jogging and the invigorating fresh sea air. Close by, the Donegal Historical Society Museum is housed in the Franciscan Friary and is well worth a visit. |
