Strand Cottage is a beautiful modern 4 bedroom holiday cottage that is blessed with a wonderfully scenic location on the North West Donegal coastline at Magheraroarty - a location that is both secluded and yet convenient to all the main tourist attractions in this part of Donegal. The holiday home is situated on an elevated site overlooking Magheraroarty harbour and pier. From almost every window in the holiday cottage there are wonderful views - views that include Inishboffin and Tory island, the Dooey Peninsula, Magheraroarty Strand, Ballyness Bay, Muckish Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean
A 10 minute walk from the front door of the holiday home will have you down on the waters edge. At the pier there are regular ferries to both Inishbofin (10 minute boat trip) and to Tory. Inishbofin is a small, enchanting island far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern-day life. It has beautiful white sandy beaches and unusual cliffs and caves. The island is a birdwatcher’s delight, supporting a population of the rare and elusive corncrake, while large numbers of barnacle geese fly in from the Arctic each autumn to remain for the winter. Tory Island is 9 miles off the mainland. It has been inhabited since the earliest times and is rich in archaeological and monastic sites and includes the remains of a round tower. Tory is famous for its school of ‘primitive’ painters who were encouraged by the internationally famous painter, the late Derek Hill.
Both Tory and Inisbofin are Irish speaking islands. Indeed the holiday home itself is located in the heart of one of Donegal's main Gaeltacht area - enabling the visitor to absorb the culture and heritage of this unique region where Irish is still the main everyday language.
All around the cottage you will find rugged peninsulas, clean beaches and towering mountains. The visitor will find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk. West Donegal is famous for its natural beauty - from the majesty of Glenveagh National Park to the wild Atlantic views along Bloody Foreland. Magheraroarty Strand is a popular venue for windsurfing. There are 2 golf courses within a 20 minute drive of the holiday cottage - at Falcarragh and Dunfanaghy.
The cottage is close to Errigal Mountain (hillwalking) and the Dunlewey Activity Centre.
Whether you come as a couple or family or in a group - a Donegal fáilte (welcome) awaits you at beautiful Strand Cottage in Magheraroarty.
The bright and spacious kitchen of the holiday home looks out over the dramatic coastline outside. Facilities available include electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and gas hob. For convenience there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer available in a separate utility room.
The living room has 3 large windows and double patio doors which provide natural lighting from all directions. Views from the large glass patio doors sweep spectacularly over Magheraroarty Strand towards the wild Atlantic Ocean beyond.
The living area is furnished in a very comfortable fashion with the open fireplace providing a focal point. For home entertainment there is a tv, video, stereo and dvd player.
The holiday home has 4 very comfortable, spacious and bright bedrooms – each with its own individual style.
There is a bathroom on the ground floor and a shower room on the first floor.

First can I just echo the comments that have been made about your site? It is by far the best site for cottages that I have stumbled accross! Great pictures, clear descriptions, good search facilities, etc.
