Summerhill Cottage - Rathmullan

Summerhill  is a superb modern 4 bedroom holiday cottage located in the popular family seaside  village of  Rathmullan  in North West Donegal.   The cottage is situated at the end of a quiet cul de sac and has large enclosed gardens to both the front and back – making it a very safe play environment for children. 

A 5 minute stroll along a tree line road and path will bring you onto Rathmullan's beautiful sandy beach on the shores of Lough Swilly. Along the length of this tree lined beach you will find the excellent  4 star Rathmullan House Hotel. This renowned hotel has the award winning Weeping Elm Restaurant and the popular Cellar Bar.

A 5 minute walk will also bring you into the centre of Rathmullan village. This picturesque seaside resort is now one of the most popular family holiday destinations in the North West of Ireland. There are several fine restaurants in the village in addition to lively and friendly pubs.

Local Activities and Amenities

At the pier there is a small marina and also a car ferry that links Rathmullan with Buncrana during the summer season. The small marina is the base for two modern sea charter boats that are used for deep sea angling and sightseeing tours of Lough Swilly. Fishing of Rathmullan Pier is a popular activity. The wonderful beach is safe for bathing and is excellent for water sports. A new children's playground has recently been added to the beach entrance area. The newly established Rathmullan Watersports School offers classes in sailing and windsurfing.

Hill walking and horse riding are also popular local activities.  Otway Golf club is a small but challenging 9 hole golf links – it has a beautiful location on the shores of Lough Swilly 3 miles north of Rathmullan.

The spectacular landscapes of the Fanad and Rosguil Peninsulas, the unspoilt Donegal Highlands, the magnificent Glenveagh National Park and the ancient and historic walled City of Derry are all with an hours drive of the cottage.

Golfing

A 20 minute drive along the spectacular Knockalla Coast Road will bring you to Portsalon Golf Course which is now one of the finest links courses in Donegal. Portsalon is also the location of one of the best blue flag beaches in Ireland. A 30 minute drive towards Downings will bring you to Rosapenna which has two superb championship golf courses. This is also the starting point of the famous Atlantic Drive.

The holiday home has a large kitchen and dining area. The high ceiling and large windows in this room provide a wonderful sense of light and space. The fully fitted kitchen comes with a complete range of modern appliances including dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer and washing machine. A large dining table with 8 chairs sits in front of a cosy fire effect stove.

  Living Room

The spacious living room of the holiday home is tastefully furnished and decorated. The large open fireplace provides an attractive focal point. The fireplace together with the carpeted floor and luxury furniture give a warm and restful feel to the room. For home entertainment there is a tv and dvd player.
