Teachin Choinn - Glengad

Teachin Choinn is a lovely traditional style thatched cottage located in the small coastal village of Glengad on the Inishowen Peninsula in North East Donegal.  This charming 2 bedroom cottage is located just 6km from two of the main tourist towns in Inishowen – Culdaff and Malin Town. It is also a restful base from which to explore this beautiful part of Co Donegal.

The cottage itself has been carefully  restored  in a manner that  combines modern comforts with old world charm. The cottage has a cosy open plan area with kitchen, living space and dining area. There is a beautiful ensuite master bedroom and a family bedroom along with a large bathroom. There is a lawn to the front of the cottage and a wonderful landscaped decking area with panoramic views over Lough Foyle towards the north Derry coastline

Coastal Setting

The village of Glengad is a small harbour village on the north east coast of the Inishowen Peninsula. It is a 5 minutes drive away from the superb Blue Flag Culdaff Beach and Bunagee Harbour. It is a similar drive to beautiful Malin Town on the shores of Trawbreaga Bay. The holiday cottage  is 15 km from Malin Head - Irelands most northernly point. The internationally renowned Ballyliffin Golf Club is 17km

The ancient and historic walled City of Derry is just a 40 minute drive from the holiday home.  A scene of much conflict in the latter part of the 20th century, Derry is today one of Ireland's most vibrant cities. Following the end of the troubles, the city has redeveloped much of its former character and charm. Some of the main attractions in the city include the historic walls, the Tower Museum, the Guildhall, The Millenium Forum and the Foyleside Shopping Centre.

Local Activities and Attractions

• Take a trip around the famous Inishowen 100 This is one of Ireland's most scenic drives. The route includes dramatic coastal scenery plus a fine collection of ancient forts and monuments, traditional craft centres, and a dozen or so friendly villages. Scenic highlights include the Gap of Mamore, and Malin Head -  Ireland's most northerly point
• Play golf on the the internationally renowned Ballyliffin Golf Club - just 17 km from the holiday home. Other fine golf courses on the Inishowen Peninsula can be found at Greencastle, Buncrana and Redcastle.
• Visit the Doagh Visitor Centre. This centre provides a great variety of exhibitions telling the story of the Irish Famine. It is also a place where the local customs, traditions, folklore and history of the Inishowen Peninsula are preserved in a permanent way
• Enjoy beautiful unspoilt beaches on the Inishowen Peninsula – Culdaff,  Five Finger Strand near Malin and Shrove
• Visit the Fort and Military Museum at Dunree.
• Enjoy a meal at Mc Grory’s of Culdaff. This renowned establishment features an award wining restaurant, traditional bar with regular Irish Music Sessions and the  famous Backroom - one of Ireland's leading live music venues
• Visit the the Inishowen Maritime Museum in Greencastle, which includes a state-of-the-art planetarium
• Use the car ferry at Greencastle to explore the northern coasts of Derry and Antrim - including the Giants Causeway and Bushmills

This traditional style cottage with thatched roof has a cosy open plan area with kitchen. living space and dining area. The living space has comfortably sofa furniture and a gas effect fire. For home entertainment there is a tv and dvd player.

  Kitchen

A belfast sink and kitchen dresser together with natural wood fitted units give the kitchen area a traditional feel. Appliances available in the kitchen include electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer.  The dining area has a table and 6 chairs. Also available are a washing machine and tumble dryer.
