This lovely cottage presents a charming, relaxed and
friendly impression, inviting one to enter and feel at home. It
occupies a neat, well kept property, with a gravelled front area for
parking, and a safe enclosed deck
surrounding the rear of the property. It has three bedrooms to sleep up
to six; a shower room, and a kitchen, dining and lounge area sharing a
mutual space at the front of the cottage.
Set off the R259 coastal road between Dungloe and Annagry, the cottage
is less than 2km from the Burtonport pier,
near a coastline that is ruggedly indented with inlets, coves and
numerous small islands and rocky promontories. An area perfect
for fishing, sub-aqua diving, and safe swimming
in natural, protected rock pools and coves.
Burtonport
is a fishing village on the west coast of Donegal, in the "Gaeltacht"
or Irish speaking area, and also in an area known as the "Rosses". It is
7km north west of Dungloe, which is the largest town in the area.
From the pier, there is a regular ferry service to and from Arranmore
island, with several crossings a day from each end. The island is about
5km offshore, and the crossing takes about half an hour.
For Tory Island and Gola Island; a ferry departs from Bunbeg pier.
There are two award winning seafood restaurants in Burtonport:
Skippers
Tavern and the Lobster Pot; - well worth a visit.
