The Barn is a beautiful stone clad cottage created out of the restoration of 3 stone buildings that were built as a terrace arrangement over 200 years ago. The cottage is located in the townland of Murroe 4km outside Dunfanaghy on the road to Falcarragh. With Muckish Mountain as a backdrop the cottage enjoys views  towards the sea at Tramore beach and also of the western shores of New Lake - a man made lake that is now a haven for sea birds.

Local stone, slate and timber was used in the original construction of the buildings. Much of the original stone work has been retained in the outer walls. The interior has been extensively restored over the past few years in a manner that tastefully combines modern comforts with old world charm.  A major feature of the holiday home is the open living area which is bright, spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated. There is also 4 bright and comfortable bedrooms - including a large ensuite dormitory style bedroom with 4 single beds.

The owner of The Barn lives in Dunfanaghy and is a regular hillwalker in the area. He can organise guided walks for various levels of fitness and interests.

What they say

I travel a lot so I'm always looking for interesting places to stay - anything to avoid another carbon copy hotel - and this has got to be one of the best local travel sites I've seen. Plenty of detail, tons of photos, excellent location info and clear pricing - everything I need to make an informed call. Great job and I'll be recommending the site to anyone else I know who's travelling in Donegal.
