'The Lodge' is a modern, compact 'cabin' style cottage presenting a wood finished 'clap board' style exterior. It is situated at the rear of the property, behind the main house, snugly sheltered close to the side of the hill.

The property is located in a quiet and peaceful location at Port Ronan; just above a small fishing pier, in an area known as West Town, on the south side of the small peninsula that forms Ireland's most northerly point at Malin Head.

A welcoming pair of patio doors invites one in to the main open plan living space on the ground floor, which has a fitted kitchen, lounge and dining area. There is a single upstairs bedroom with two double beds to sleep up to four, and a shower room.

The cottage has modern fixtures and fittings, is insulated and has oil fired central heating, and a TV, DVD, and CD/radio are included. It would be suitable for individuals, couples, or a small family. Pets are welcome.
The front of the cottage has a sheltered gravelled parking and patio area, and there is a water feature created around a  natural stream flowing down the hill.

'Lodgers' will also have access to a large decked patio area attached to the main house, from where they will be able to enjoy the most fabulous coastal views and breathtaking scenery. A view that constantly changes with the weather and light.

Surrounding Area

The view looks south across a body of water called White Strand Bay, which is just below and to the left, the mouth of Trawbreaga Bay, further out to the east, and Pollan Bay, which lies behind a prominent rock called Glashedy Island. The impressive backdrop is formed by the hills of the Inishowen Peninsula.

There is a small fishing pier just below the cottage, and to the left a beach, so bathers need not go far for a swim. Other beaches in the area include; two beaches at Malin Head called Sandport and Portmore, and a very scenic pebble beach south of Port Caman, which lies just north of  a coastal rock formation known as 'The Five Fingers'.

This is a perfect secluded retreat for artists and landscape photographers, who will be inspired by the views. Hill walkers will be thrilled by the natural beauty of the surroundings and the spectacular coastal walks.

Local Activities and Attractions

The Lodge is close to the Sandrock Holiday Hostel, and is only a four minute drive from the main settlement at Malin Head.
Farren's Bar is Irelands most northerly pub, where you can relax and enjoy the 'craic' and  'the finest pint in Ireland'. Entertainment is provided during the summer months. Also try the Crossroads Inn and The Seaview Tavern, which has a good restaurant.

The more energetic can indulge in a a variety of activities, including;
Hill walking, Swimming, Deep sea diving, Fishing, Surfing, Sailing, Cycling, or just sight seeing, whether on foot or by car. Golf can be played at Ballyliffin, with its famous two links course; also at Greencastle, Redcastle, Buncrana and in Derry City.

What they say

This site is a dream to use; it has everything in place in a way that is easy to find. All the information I want is easily accessible and having numerous photos really gives you a good idea of the property. Looked at other sites and after a couple of minutes gave up. Your site has been very well thought through.
