
The Thatch is a charming traditional cottage located close to the heritage town of Ramelton and offering all modern facilities to ensure you have a carefree stay in this special part of Donegal, Ireland. The cottage is set amid rolling countryside and the many laneways in the immediate area are ideal for walkers. Staying at the cottage, you also have access to tennis courts which are provided by the owner, John.
The grounds surrounding the cottage are beautifully maintained and the fact that many visitors return year after year is testament to the warmth of the welcome they receive. The large living room in the cottage has an open fireplace, perfect for relaxing around after a day spent exploring the surrounding countryside or a game of golf at one of the many links courses in the area.
The historic town of Ramelton is worth exploring and it also offers a wine bar, an art gallery, a dress design studio and the trademark old stores (warehouses). One of these stores now houses a multi-media exhibition, 'Ramelton Story' and the Donegal Ancestry Centre.
The house is situated close to a wildlife sanctuary with man-made lake stocked with mallard ducks. The nature reserve is augmented by natural forest walks with elevated picnic area for stunning views of the Lough Swilly estuary and Inishowen Hills.
Donegal's main town, Letterkenny, is a 10 min. drive away. Here you will find a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. An Grianan Theatre often features acts with a local flavour during the summer months. For the kids there is a large indoor playground (Arena 7) and a swimming pool. Letterkenny Town Park with its lovely walks and children's play area is well worth a visit.
The nearest beach at Rathmullan is a 10 min. drive northwards along the shores of Lough Swilly. Boat charter is available at the pier and during the summer months, a car ferry connects to Buncrana on the other side of the Lough, opening up further touring possibilities.

The large living room of the Thatch has as its focal point a lovely open fireplace - perfect for relaxing around in the evening. In addition, the house if fully centrally heated.
This room has a tv, video and dvd player.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms, two of which are ensuite and located on the upper floor. There is a third, smaller single room located on the ground floor. The upper floor bedrooms have lovely views of the surrounding countryside.

The main hallway of the cottage gives a good impression of the spacious interior - the door to the left leads into the kitchen. Outside the front door flowers and shrubs have been planted among the surrounding trees - youll really appreciate the peace and quiet of this lovely area
