Located in a shared surface cul-de-sac with 11 other holiday homes, the house orientation gives a semi-private patio and grassed area to the rear which is south facing and also provides a safe environment for children. The patio has a garden table and chairs and an unencumbered view across fields to the beach sand dunes. There is car parking and external lighting in the well landscaped cul-de-sac.

Rossnowlagh Beach

A five minutes walk brings you to the stunning Blue Flag Rossnowlagh beach with 4 Km of golden sand. As well as being very popular with families, it is famous for surfing but also accommodates kite boarding, wind surfing, kayak surfing, and sand sailing. A surf shop and surf school is located beside the beach. Beach Lifeguards are on duty at this beach for the months of July and August.

Only 400 metres from the house, the Sandhouse Hotel + Spa, and Surfers Bar fronts onto the beach. The famous Smugglers Creek Bar/Restaurant, perched on the cliff overlooking the beach and Donegal Bay, is within easy walking distance. Nearby is the Franciscan Friary, home to the Donegal Historical Society Museum and its tranquil setting is well worth a visit.

Ballyshannon and Donegal Town

The historical towns of Ballyshannon and Donegal are only a 15 minute drive away and Bundoran with a cinema complex and Waterworld is a 25 minute drive. Fishing and horesriding are available nearby and the famous 18 hole Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh) links course is only a short drive away.

Activities and Attractions

  • Surfing Rossnowlagh has some of the best surfing in the world and the European Championships have been held here a number of times
  • Golf - superb 18 hole links championship courses are located at Murvagh, near Donegal Town and at Bundoran
  • Walking - The Creevy Shore Walk is a purpose built coastal footpath 10 miles in length running from Rossnowlagh through Creevy to the mouth of the Erne Estuary. There is also some excellent long distance walks such as the Blue Stack Way.
  • Donegal Town (15km) is of great historical interest and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public.
  • Creevy Pier - for tours of Donegal Bay, including, Slieve League - the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
  • Horse-Riding There are several horse-riding and trekking establishments in the area where you can enjoy an afternoon on horseback, riding through some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery.
  • Cycling South Donegal abounds with small, winding roads which offer spectacular views around every corner and are ideal for cycling.
  • Angling - anglers can sample game, coarse and sea angling with sea angling boats available for local chartering. (The first salmon of the season is frequently caught in the nearby River Drowse)
  • Waterworld in Bundoran - one of Ireland's leading Indoor Aqua Adventure Playground is located on the seafront in Bundoran

The kitchen of Trasnagh is fully equipped to ensure you have a memorable holiday in this popular south Donegal seaside resort.

A store on the south side is accessed from the patio/ garden and contains the oil fired boiler, washing machine, tumble dryer, surf board, body boards, BBQ and chimenea. There is also an external water tap for rinsing wet suits etc.

The house is furnished to a high standard, centrally heated and fully tiled throughout the ground floor with timber floors on the first floor and carpet to the stairs and balcony landing. On the ground floor is a reception hall/dining room, a generous living room, cloakroom/store, kitchen, double bedroom with en-suite electric shower, toilet and wash hand basin.  The spacious lounge has an open fireplace, patio doors and is equipped with a TV with Sky+ box (over 40 channels), DVD, video and CD player and direct access to the south facing patio via patio doors.

Trasnagh has 3 bedrooms to sleep up to 8 people plus a young child. The ground floor double bedroom is ensuite. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with 4 single beds and the other with one double bed and a cot, a balcony overlooking the hall/dining area and a shower room with a power shower, toilet and whb. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers. There is a small tv in the 4 bed room.

Booking Details

Booking deposit (non-refundable) of 150 euro (€150) per booking - with balance to be paid six weeks prior to the letting period or by arrangement with the owner.

  • check in 3pm, check out 11am
  • rental Sat – Sat except by special arrangement

A re-fundable security deposit of €150 is also required with the final letting payment. This will be re-funded within 5 days of the end of the letting period. (Accidental breakages of the odd plate, glass etc will NOT be deducted)
