The main space is illuminated by an east facing skylight, and a large, south facing window, presenting lovely panoramic views over Loughanure and surroundings. It contains a well designed, fitted kitchen and dining area, in the centre of the room; with the lounge area to the front, near the main window, allowing one to relax, while enjoying the view, or watching TV.
While the apartment is ideally suited for two people, there are 2
fold-up beds and the large sofa, allowing up to 5 to sleep if required. The apartment is situated just on the edge of the village of Loughanure, and within 500 meters from the lake shore; the local restaurant, pubs & shops are all within walking distance. The beautiful lake is well stocked with salmon, brown trout and rainbow trout, and has been famous as an angling haven for many years. The village angling club is well established, and runs regular fishing competitions throughout the season. Indeed, the whole area, which is known as "The Rosses" has an abundance of lakes and a coastline of many bays, inlets, coves and offshore islands; - making fishing one of the most popular activities in the area. Anglers can also indulge in off-shore sea fishing, by hiring or renting a boat.
Loughanure village is situated in the Donegal
Gaeltacht, between
Gweedore and Dungloe, and is close to the village of Crolly and the town
of Annagry. It has a renowned Irish College which runs courses during
the summer months and at Easter. Apart from angling, other activities may include: walking, rambling or hiking. Locally, a walk along the lake shore or the nearby hills would be a good start. The more adventurous and energetic might consider climbing the higher peaks, among them; Mt Errigal, which presents quite a challenge; being Donegal's highest peak. Golfers can enjoy a game at the nearby Cruit Island course, or at Portnoo, a bit further away. Visitors from Dublin or Glasgow will be pleased to know that there are regular flights to and from Donegal Airport to these cities, and the airport is about 15 minutes away, with car hire facilities available. We are sure that Yew Tree apartment offers excellent value accommodation, right in the heart of the Gaeltacht, and that you will be delighted with your choice. |
