Located close to Ireland's most northerly point, Malin Head, No.3 Edgewater is a spacious, 4 bedroom, modern holiday home and makes the ideal base for a family holiday in this beautiful part of the north coast. The Seaview Tavern, incorporating a traditional Irish pub, modern restaurant, shop and petrol station is a 1 minute walk away.

Local Attractions

The nearby Portmor Harbour, with its fleet of local fishing boats and small pier is within easy walking distance - ideal for water sport enthusiasts. To the rear of the holiday home there is a large wood deck area - perfect for alfresco dining. Nearby attractions include Ballyliffin Golf Course and Doagh Island Famine Village.

Malin Head, the most northerly point in Ireland, is marked by an old signal tower on top of a hill known as Banba's Crown. From here, probably the best views are looking south at the magnificent vista provided by the Inishowen Hills; though on a clear day, one can see as far as the Scottish Hebrides to the east and Tory Island to the west.

The "Inishowen 100" is a drive which takes the visitor on a roughly circular tour of the Inishowen Peninsula, and gets its name from the distance of 100kms, the approximate distance covered if the whole trip is completed.

Local Activities

Some of the activities include; Hill Walking, Scuba-diving, Surfing, Golf, Fishing, Bird watching. For the golf enthusiast, the well known Ballyliffin Golf Club and course is a 20 min drive from here. Other golf courses are located at Greencastle, Redcastle and Buncrana.

Near Ballyliffin (and the golf course) on the beautiful Isle of Doagh, a visit to the Isle Of Doagh Visitor Centre is to be recommended. This unique outdoor museum tells the story of life in this area going back to the Great Famine in the 1840's. A Famine Village and typical dwellings such as Sod or Turf houses from those times can be seen here. The Irish Famine was at its worst between 1845 to 1848 causing the population to drop from 8 to 4 million through death and emigration.

What they say

Can I also take this opportunity to say how helpful and user friendly your website is - it is certainly a plus for Donegal. I became aware of it through a friend who has booked a house in Ballyliffin for a number of us attending a wedding in the area in the summer.
