The routes have been developed as a National Waymarked Way by Donegal County Council and \u00dadar\u00e1s na Gaeltachta in association with F\u00e1ilte Ireland. Each walk is between 50-70km in length and encompasses mountain riverside seaside and forest habitats. New for 2013 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/bluestack-way-app\/\" title=\"Bluestack Way App\">The Bluestack Way<\/a> now has a dedicated app for walkers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>W:<\/strong> www.walkireland.ie<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe scenery along the routes is spectacular and walkers have an excellent opportunity to sample the uniqueness of the Irish language heritage and culture of the region.<\/p>\n<p>[nggallery id=31]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>ROUTE DETAILS<\/h3>\n<p>The four circular routes are:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Sl\u00ed an Earagail<\/li>\n<li> Sl\u00ed na Rossan<\/li>\n<li> Sl\u00ed na Finne<\/li>\n<li> Sl\u00ed Cholmcille<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>1. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/bealacht-na-gaeltachta-sli-an-earagail\/\" title=\"Bealacht na Gaeltachta :: Sl\u00ed an Earagail\">Sl\u00ed an Earagail<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This route derives its name from Errigal Mountain (751m), a quartzite cone which is the highest mountain in Donegal. Errigal can be viewed fron almost every point along the walk that encompasses the thriving Gaeltacht Region of the north western corner of the county in the parishes of Gaoth Dobhair and Cloich Cheann Fhaola. A mixture of forestry, countryside and coastal scenes viewed from tracks and minor roads provide walkers with a variety of breathtaking landscapes<br \/>\n<strong>Outline of Main Route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gweedore &#8211; Dunlewey &#8211; Falcarragh &#8211; Bloddy Forelabd &#8211; Derrybe &#8211; Bunbeg &#8211; Gweedore<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>2. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/sli-na-rossan\/\" title=\"Sl\u00ed na Rossan\">Sl\u00ed na Rossan<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Sl\u00ed na Rosann is a 65km circular route covering the Rosses area of West Donegal, which lies between the western slopes of the Derryveagh Mountains and the rugged Atlantic. It is a wonderfully scenic, rock-strewn landscape scattered with more than a hundred lakes. Sl\u00ed na Rosann brings walkers through this dramatic and often harsh landscape, passing on its way through the town of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/dungloe\/\" title=\"Dungloe Self Catering\">Dungloe<\/a> and the villages of Crolly, Maghery and Burtonport.<br \/>\n<strong>Outline of Main Route<\/strong><br \/>\nDungloe &#8211;  Burtonport &#8211; Annagry &#8211;  Crolly &#8211; Maghery &#8211; Dungloe<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>3. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/sli-na-finne\/\" title=\"Sl\u00ed na Finne\">Sl\u00ed na Finne<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Sl\u00ed na Finne is a 42 km long circular section of the 280km Sl\u00ed Dh\u00fan na nGall that loops through the mountains of central Donegal touching on Lough Finn and the banks of the River Finn. It is a route that takes in the villages of Fintown, Cloughan and Comeen and what County Donegal is best for, its wilderness, mountains, glens, rivers, and lakes. There is a 22 km link from the route via the village of Doochary to another of the Donegal walking routes, Sl\u00ed na Rosann,<strong><br \/>\nOutline of Main Route<\/strong><br \/>\nFintown &#8211;  Cloughan &#8211;  Commeen &#8211;  Fintown<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>4. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/sli-cholmcille\/\" title=\"Sl\u00ed Cholmcille\">Sl\u00ed Cholmcille<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This route derives its name from the legendary St Colmcille, one of Irelands patron saints. The coastline along the route is spectacular with many inlets, bays and cliffs together with stretches of sandy beaches providing beauiful coastal walks Thriving small towns lie along the route including, Ardara, Carrick and Glencolmcille. Ardara is a heritage town and is renowned for its homespun tweeds, handknits and handloomed knitwear. The villages of Kilcar and Carick and the surrounding area provide excellent landscspes of mountains and glens, beaches and bays. Gleann Cholm Cille (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/glencolmcille\/\" title=\"Glencolmcille Self Catering\">Glencolmcille<\/a>) is an area which is rich in folklore and traditional music.<br \/>\n<strong>Outline of Main Route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kilcar &#8211; Carrick &#8211; Glencolmcille &#8211; Port &#8211; Ardara &#8211; Glengesh &#8211; Kilcar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Island Walks<\/h3>\n<p>Three of the four routes are linked by a walk.\u00a0\u00a0 In addition Sl\u00ed an Earagail and\u00a0 Sl\u00ed na Rossan have links to the islands where waymarked walks have also been developed. These island walks include Sl\u00ed \u00c1rainn Mh\u00f3ir (Aranmore Island), Sl\u00ed Ghabla (Gola Island) and Sl\u00ed Thora\u00ed (Tory Island).
