Sl\u00ed an Earagail is a circular and relatively flat route that is named after Mount Errigal (751m), whose conical, grey-streaked quartzite summit is frequently visible along the walking route, even from the coastal stretches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>W:<\/strong> www.walkireland.ie<\/p>\n<p>[nggallery id=32]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Holiday Homes in Bunbeg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/towns\/holiday-cottage-bunbeg.php\">Holiday Homes in Bunbeg<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Holiday Homes in Derrybeg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/towns\/holiday-cottage-derrybeg.php\">Holiday Homes in Derrybeg<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Holiday Homes in Dunlewey\" href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/towns\/holiday-cottage-dunlewey.php\">Holiday Homes in Dunlewey<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Sl\u00ed an Earagail :: A National Waymarked Way<\/h3>\n<p>The Sl\u00ed an Earagail waymarked way is richly varied and traverses through landscapes that represent the best in Donegal scenery, including a path through moorland just beneath Errigal, stretches beside two beautiful lakes &#8211;  Lough Nacung and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/the-dunlewey-centre-ionad-cois-locha\/\" title=\"The Dunlewey Centre : Ionad Cois Locha\">Dunlewey Lough<\/a> &#8211; as well as sections along spectacular island-scattered Atlantic sea coast of north west Donegal.<\/p>\n<p>The route consists of a mixture of forestry, countryside and coastal scenes viewed from tracks and minor roads. The walk encompasses the thriving Gaeltacht Region of the north western corner of the county in the parishes of Gaoth Dobhair and Cloich Cheann Fhaola.<\/p>\n<p>Total aggregate ascent over the entire route is 720m and the total distance is 77km. At Gweedore station  there is a 4.5 km connection to another of the Donegal walks, Sli na Rosann, by way of a link that is partly on a busy road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sl\u00ed an Earagail &#8211; Outline of Main Route<\/strong><br \/>\nGweedore &#8211; Dunlewey &#8211; Falcarragh &#8211; Bloddy Foreland &#8211; Derrybe- Bunbeg &#8211; Gweedore<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Sl\u00ed Ghabla (Gola Island) and Sl\u00ed Thora\u00ed (Tory Island)<\/h3>\n<p>There are in addition two island &#8216;links&#8217;  to  Sl\u00ed an Earagail that are well worth including \u2013 one on the rugged and legend-rich island of Tory, and the other on the tiny island of Gola. Both islands are accessible by ferry during the summer months &#8211; ferrys departing from Magheroarty and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/bunbeg\/\" title=\"Bunbeg Self Catering\">Bunbeg<\/a>. The walks on the Islands are short but the scenery is beautiful.
