Castle Murray House Restaurant Donegal<\/strong> – Castle Murray House is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Co Donegal. From its elevated site this award winning restaurant enjoys panoramic views over Donegal Bay. The ruins of McSwynes Castle just below the restaurant help to emphasise the rugged nature of the coastline in this beautiful part of Donegal. Head Chef Remy Dupuy has been head of the kitchen in Castle Murray since 1994. Over this time there has been a consistent house style, with the emphasis strongly on local produce. Seafood is a speciality particularly in the summer months. Remy uses local fishermen who supply him with lobster, scallops monk and other types of fish. The House Special Starter – Prawns & Monkfish cooked in Garlic Butter topped with Mozzarella – is legendary at this stage<\/p>\n

During the winter months, when seafood is less plentiful, red meats, poulty and game come to the fore.The wine list leans towards the Old World, particularly France, and offers good house wines.<\/p>\n

Service under the direction of General Manager Marguerite Howley and Maitre d’Hotel Fabrice Costes, is friendly and second to none. Overall the wonderful location, helpful staff and wonderful food make Castle Murray a place people keep coming back to.<\/p>\n

As the night slowly draws in on green fields that tumble to the sea and scudding clouds dapple the reddening sky, the sun slowly sinks behind the distant Slieve League<\/a>, the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The food, with lots of local seafood on the menu, is as outstanding as the view and served in portions that satisfy even the heartiest of Irish appetites.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
