The 4km long sandy beach is safe for swimming on the western side of the Ray river that flows to the eastern end of the beach. The beach is also known locally as the Back Strand or Falcarragh Beach<\/p>\n<p>The beach has recently been awarded Green Coast status because of the purity of the water.
