It has always been a strategically important part of the country, where observation posts and signal towers were erected to keep an eye on shipping movements passing the northern coast. From the Spanish Armada, to the French fleet during the Napoleonic Wars, and more recently, during the two world wars.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Holiday Homes at Malin Head\" href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/towns\/holiday-cottage-malin-head.php\">view holiday homes at Malin Head<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Malin Head Information\" href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalcottageholidays.com\/blog\/category\/malin-head\">more information about Malin Head<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before satellite communication, there used to be a radio station here, and there is still an active weather station, which provides important data to local and international weather bureaux. The most northerly point in Ireland is marked by an old signal tower on top of a hill known as Banba&#8217;s Crown. &#8211; A popular tourist destination.
