Bluebell Holiday Home is located in a tranquil coastal valley on the eastern shores of Lough Swilly in North Donegal. Situated just a few metres from the Owenerk river, the holiday home is sheltered by Dunree Head to the south and by Lederg Hill to the north. Just 600 metres from the front door is the secluded Crummie’s Bay which has a beautiful sandy beach. The beach – also known as Portbane beach – is accessed via a path through a field– there are no roads to cross.
The holiday home has 4 bedrooms to sleep up to 8 people comfortably. A feature of the house is the large windows on both floors which helps brings the outdoors inside. The living area and master bedroom enjoy lovely views over open fields towards the dramatic headland that contains the Fort Dunree Military Museum. The large grounds to the front of the house are awash with bluebells in early summer – hence the name.
Just 1km from the holiday home is Fort Dunree. The fort is located on a rocky promontory on Dunree Head and is accessed over a natural fissure. The fort is now a military museum with detailed exhibitions, many restored guns and an old military camp – some of the lookout posts can be seen from the holiday home. There are also displays about the birds, marine life and coastal vegetation of the local area. Other facilities include a gift shop, auditorium and trail walks. The Fort café is open to the public and there are picnic benches with truly dramatic views over Lough Swilly.
The holiday home lies just off the route of the "Inishowen 100". This is a senic drive which takes the visitor on a roughly circular tour of the Inishowen Peninsula. The route includes dramatic coastal scenery plus a fine collection of ancient forts and monuments, traditional craft centres, and a dozen or so friendly villages. Scenic highlights include the Gap of Mamore, and Malin Head - Ireland's most northerly point
Just over 15km from the holiday home is the fabulous Ballyliffen Golf Club. The two golf links courses at Ballyliffin have been described as the Ballybunion of the North. Both courses have large undulating greens, deep bunkers and fairways that are as challenging as the nearby crashing Atlantic surf. A few kilometres beyond the golf club is the Doagh Famine village. This centre provides a great variety of exhibitions telling the story of the Irish Famine. It is also a place where the local customs, traditions, folklore and history of the Inishowen Peninsula are preserved in a permanent way
Bluebell holiday home is within easy driving distance of some of the main towns on the Inishowen Peninsula including Buncrana, Clonmany and Carndonagh. The ancient and historic walled City of Derry is just a 30 minute drive away. A scene of much conflict in the latter part of the 20th century, Derry is today one of Ireland's most vibrant cities. Following the end of the troubles, the city has redeveloped much of its former character and charm. Derry is UK City of Culture in 2013 and will also host the 2013 All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil . The city's annual Halloween Festival is one of the highlights of the Irish Festival Calendar.
Blubell holiday home is surrounded by heather clad hills and tumbling streams making it ideal for a relaxing holiday in tranquil surroundings. There are truly amazing views and walks direct from the front door. Or just pop out the back for a spot of brown trout fishing. With sheep, rabitts and a few pheasants as your neighbours this holiday home affords a restful getaway for the keen walker, photographer, artist or angler.
The holiday home has open plan entrance hallway, dining area and living space. Large windows bring the outside landcape inside. The living area has an open fireplace and enjoys views of Dunree Head. There is also a solid fuel stove adjacent to the dining area
The kitchen in the holiday home has modern appliances including electric cooker, microwave and fridge. There is also a small dining table and two chairs.
The holiday home has a washing machine and a belfast sink in a separate utility room.

Congratulations on an absolutely wonderful site! I was going crazy researching availability on other sites - that did not state price, no. of rooms, bathroom facilities often (even after clicking three or four links) and also did not follow a pattern for each entry. Your site is delightful. I could go through all pages of entries and with the price details given immediately did not need to waste time over entries not within my budget.
