Drim Cottage is a spacious, airy five bedroom cottage, situated on an elevation with panoramic views of Tory Island, Fanad Head (Lighthouse) and Whitestrand Bay. It’s a tranquil dwelling at the northernmost tip of the Wild Atlantic Way coastal route in Malin Head; an area now associated with Star Wars Episode VIII, following the shooting of scenes in 2016.
This five bedroom cottage (four double rooms and one twin room), with three bedrooms upstairs, two of which are ensuite, and two bedrooms downstairs, can sleep 11 guests.
A spacious living room with an open fire and flat screen TV and a well equipped kitchen and laundry room create a cosy, homely environment. Bed linen and towels (for indoor use only) are supplied at no extra cost, as is WIFI. For families with children, we provide a travel cot, highchair, stair gate, and fold up bed. Oil fired central heating and electricity incur an extra cost and there is also a stove in the kitchen.
There is a variety of activities and attractions on offer in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, diving, kayaking, surfing, sailing and fishing are just a five minute drive away. Basking sharks, dolphins and seals may be seen at Portmore pier and Easky bay.
The surrounding area is a haven for cyclists, walkers and birdwatchers alike and is one of the few remaining areas in Ireland where you will still hear the corncrake bird calling during the short midsummer nights.
A five minute drive will also take you to the most northerly point of Ireland called Banba's Crown, named after an early pre-Christian pagan Queen. From this elevated point you have a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
The Admiralty Tower at Banba's Crown was built in 1805 as a Llyods Signal Station and was used as a lookout point in the two World Wars. From Banba's Crown you can see Tory & Inishtrahull Islands, Horn Head and Bloody Foreland. A medieval derelict church called the "Wee House of Malin" dating back to the 16th Century is well worth a visit.
There are many beautiful beaches. The nearby Five Fingers Strand has the largest sand dunes in Europe and here, at low tide, the wreck of the Twilight ship is clearly visible. Horse riding, available locally near Malin village, takes place on this beautiful strand. Culdaff beach, which has blue flag status, and Kinnago Bay are also within easy access.
In the last few years many visitors, who came especially to view the famed Northern Lights, have been enthralled at the spectacular red and green shimmering lights of the Aurora Borealis in the skies over Malin Head.
This vibrant local community is well served with a café, restaurant, bars, shop, post office and supermarket. In summertime, Portmore Pier is a hive of activity. Here, at the Fisherman's Co-Op you can purchase live crab, lobster and mussels.
A fifteen minute drive will take you to the Doagh famine village where you will get a sense of what people endured and how they survived during the Irish famine of the 1840s. A short distance further along this road you will return to the twenty first century when you enter the renowned Ballyliffen golf course. Glenevin Waterfall, Glendowen Craft shop and Fort Dunree Military Musuem are nearby and well worth a visit.
On the eastern side of the peninsula, the Greencastle - Magilligan ferry provides easy access to the Northern Ireland coastal attractions.
The beautiful fully finished kitchen with a large comfortable working space and within convenient access to the dining area. Electric hob & oven, fridge/freezer, radio, microwave, and dishwasher are all included. A separate utility room just off the kitchen, is equipped with the washing machine, tumble-dryer, iron & ironing-board. The large dining area with two tables can accommodate 11. The house has central heating, but a unique feature is the stove forming a focus point in this room and providing a cosy blaze when the nights are long and cold.
The well furnished living room, with deep comfortable seating and the traditional open fireplace. The local area, a patchwork quilt of green fields, has locals who always have time to chat and a beautiful sandy beach.
4 bedrooms have double beds and the fifth has a double and single - accommodating up tp 11 people. There are three bedrooms upstairs and two of them have en-suite bathrooms. Downstairs are two bedrooms and the main bathroom. Bed linen and towelling are provided free of charge. A travel cot is available for infants.
Less than five km from Drim Cottage, this breathtaking view; looking across Trawbreaga Bay to Doagh Island and Dunaff Head beyond. This is one of many spectacular views to be had on the scenic Inishowen 100 drive around the peninsula. Visitors may extend their touring on either side of the peninsula, by making use of the car ferries connecting Buncrana with Rathmullan and Greencastle with Magilligan Point: - Allowing one to travel across the entire northern part of Ireland and making the Inishowen Peninsula a unique centralised touring base or stopover point.

First can I just echo the comments that have been made about your site? It is by far the best site for cottages that I have stumbled accross! Great pictures, clear descriptions, good search facilities, etc.
