Gapple Cottage is a cosy holiday cottage nestling at the foot of the Glenalla Hills in North West Donegal. The cottage is situated on a small working farm in a very peaceful and tranquil area making it ideal for those looking for a quiet country retreat.
This traditional self-catering cottage accommodation boasts two bedrooms, a large kitchen, shower room, central heating, a wood-burning stove in the living room and sea views. The kitchen has all modern facilities with oven, microwave, washing machine, toaster, kettle and iron and ironing board. Sheets, towels and linen are provided.
The cottage is centrally located to explore the natural beauty of North Donegal. It is 4 miles from the holiday villages of Rathmullan and Kerrykeel, 4 miles from the busy market town of Milford and 5 miles from the heritage village of Ramelton
A 10 minute drive from the cottage will bring you to Rathmullan. This popular family holiday resort has a beautiful sandy beach and a small marina where charter boats can be hired for sightseeing tours on Lough Swilly or for deep-sea angling. The village has a number of top class restaurants as well as a number of good bar food establishments. The village is also the location of the Flight of the Earls Heritage Centre
The nearby village of Ramelton is steeped in history and heritage. It has managed to hold on to much of its old world charm and character through preserving many of the fine historical Georgian buildings that make the village unique in this part of Ireland. The village is not only blessed with wonderful architecture, but also with a delightful location on the banks of the River Lennon
The cottage is less than 4 miles from the Milford Inn Hotel which makes it an attractive accommodation option for those attending weddings in this popular establishment.
The cottage is an ideal base to explore the Fanad Peninsula. This beautiful peninsula stretches north from Milford via Kerrykeel to Fanad Head and back down to Ramelton via Portsalon and Rathmullan. It has some of the most remarkable cliff scenery in Ireland. The peninsula has numerous bays, glorious beaches, rolling hills and numerous small lakes. On the eastern shores of the peninsula the renowned Knockalla coast road offers a spectacular drive overlooking Lough Swilly and the Inishowen hills.
The spectacular landscapes of the Inishowen and Rosguil Peninsulas, the unspoilt Donegal Highlands, the magnificent Glenveagh National Park and the ancient and historic walled City of Derry are all with an hours drive of the cottage

The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances including microwave, fridge, freezer, gas oven and hob. The dining area features a table and 4 chairs. The kitchen window looks out on the rugged Glenalla Hills.
The cosy living room of the holiday cottage features a solid fuel stove, comfortable furniture suite, tv and video.
The holiday cottage has 2 comfortable double bedrooms. The cottage also features a shower room.
The traditional country roads and lanes surrounding the holiday home are ideal for walkers Nearby Croaghan Hill (1,008 feet) and Crockanaffrin (1,137 feet) are notable viewpoints affording exceptional panoramic views of Lough Swilly to the east and Mulroy Bay to the west
