Glebe Cottage is a lovely 3 bedroom cottage located just over 1km inland from the beach resort of Dunfanaghy in North Donegal. This charming cottage looks out over the countryside towards New Lake and the large sand dunes that line the magnificent Tramore Strand.
The cottage is surrounded by numerous natural amenities. It is centrally located between the main fishing lakes in the Dunfanaghy area – New Lake, Port Lake and Sessiagh Lake. These three lakes are all noted for their wild brown trout with New Lake in particular thought to be one of the best brown trout fisheries in County Donegal. Permits are available locally.
Beach lovers will be spoilt for choice. The secluded and totally unspoilt Tramore Strand is 2 km away. A little local knowledge is required to access this beach but the effort will be well worthwhile. A little closer to the cottage is the fabulous blue flag Killahoey Beach in Dunfanaghy itself which is popular for swimming, windsurfing, boating, pony trekking and walking. Within a short driving distance you also have fine beaches at Portnablagh, Marble Hill and Ards.
Dunfanaghy Golf Club is less than 2km from the holiday home. This classic 18 hole links course has spectacular views of Horn Head, Sheephaven Bay, Killahoey Beach, and the dramatic Muckish Mountain. The greens are consistently rated among the best in Ireland and the course is sand-based and free-draining, making it playable all year round.
Glebe Cottage offers numerous and varied opportunities to the keen rambler and hill walker. The cottage is close to the starting point of the dramatic cliff lined peninsula of Horn Head. This peninsula greatly rewards those who are willing to do a bit of hill walking, and who aren't too flustered by heights. The cliffs of Horn Head rise to 600 feet at their highest, jutting point. That's only 114 feet less than the Cliffs of Moher. Unlike Moher, though, Horn Head is still very wild and not frequented by tourists. There are no tour buses and no Visitors Center.
Less challenging but equally rewarding are the numerous walking trails in the majestic Ards Forest Park – Ireland most diverse Forest Park. The wonderful coastal footpath in the adjoining Ards Friary enjoys breathtaking views. Climbing Muckish Mountain is also a must for the keen hill walker.
Dunfanaghy itself is a vibrant seaside village with friendly traditional pubs, craft shops art galleries and fine restaurants - including the award winning Mill Restaurant overlooking New Lake. The village now has a well established festival programme which runs throughout the year and includes a Seafood Festival, a Jazz and Blues Festival and a Halloween Madness Festival. . Portnablagh, 3km away, is also a family holiday centre and Marble Hill nearby, overlooks a safe long strand.
The holiday cottage has a bright modern kitchen. Kitchen appliances available include electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge freezer. The kitchen also houses a washing machine.
Glebe Cottage has a tastefully furnished and decorated living room with dining area. The large window in the living area looks out over rolling countryside towards New Lake and the large sand dunes that line Tramore Strand. A wood burning stove provides a homely feel to this living space (turf supplied). For home entertainment there is a flat screen tv and dvd player. The bright dining area has a table and 7 chairs.
Accommodation in the holiday home is as follows:-
Bedroom1: Double Bedroom - Ensuite Shower
Bedroom2: Double Bedroom - Views towards New Lake
Bedroom3: Bedroom with Double Bed and Bunk Beds (2 single bunks)
The holiday cottage also has a spacious bathroom.

First can I just echo the comments that have been made about your site? It is by far the best site for cottages that I have stumbled accross! Great pictures, clear descriptions, good search facilities, etc.
