Cruit Island itself is one of the main islands of the Rosses, now linked to the mainland by a bridge near Kincasslagh. It is one of a chain of islands which act as a natural breakwater, protecting the West Donegal coast from the storms which regularly come in from the Atlantic. These islands form an arc, beginning with Owey Island in the north through Cruit, Arranmore, Inishkeeragh, Rutland, Inishfree and Inishal.
Cruit has some of the most beautiful – and uncrowded – beaches in Donegal. The island has a uniquely rugged landscape featuring some spectacular rockscapes. It is mainly flat with narrow winding roads making it ideal walking terrain. The island is also an excellent base for shore angling. The charming 9 hole Cruit Island Golf Club is less than 5 minutes from the holiday home
