Explore Portsalon and the Fanad Peninsula

Just 1.3km from the holiday home lies the charming village of Portsalon and the renowned Portsalon Golf Club.

Centred around a picturesque harbour, Portsalon offers a welcoming pub, restaurant, and water sports centre where visitors can hire kayaks, pedal boats, wetsuits, and bodyboards. A charter boat also operates from the harbour, providing sea angling trips and sightseeing excursions on Lough Swilly.

Portsalon Golf Club

Just a short walk from the harbour, Portsalon Golf Club is one of Ireland's most celebrated links courses. Established in 1891 and a founding member of the Golfing Union of Ireland, the club offers visitors a warm Donegal welcome and a challenging golfing experience.

The course has been extended from under 6,000 yards to over 7,000 yards from the championship tees, increasing its par from 68 to 72. Consistently ranked among Ireland's top golf courses, it is a must-play destination for golf enthusiasts. The nearby Mulroy Bridge also provides easy access to the famous links courses at Rosapenna Golf Resort, just over 15km away.

The Fanad Peninsula

Portsalon sits on the spectacular Fanad Peninsula, an area renowned for its dramatic coastline, sandy beaches, rugged hills, tranquil lakes, and breathtaking scenery.

Around 12 km north of the holiday home lies Ballyhiernan Bay, home to a beautiful unspoilt beach and the respected Adventure One Surf School. Nearby, the iconic Fanad Head Lighthouse stands guard over the entrance to Lough Swilly and offers some of the finest coastal views in Ireland.

- no booking or commission fees as you are booking direct with the owner
- Weekends available during mid and low season
