This tastefully restored traditional Irish cottage is located in the lakeland area just east of the fishing port of Burtonport. The cottage occupies a large, mature, private site and has been part of this west Donegal landscape for a few generations. The interior largely maintains the layout of the original 1903 cottage with the addition of a large bathroom and modern comforts such as central heating and satellite tv.
The nearby lakes have won recognition from anglers, while there are walking trails through wonderfully wild and bracing countryside. Closer to the house, those rugged grounds have been tamed to include a landscaped garden with neat lawns and shrubs. Teachín Róise offers everything needed for rest and relaxation in a peaceful rural setting.
Burtonport is a fishing village on the west coast of Donegal, in the "Gaeltacht" or Irish speaking area, and also in an area known as the "Rosses". It is 7km north west of Dungloe, which is the largest town in the area. While in the area it is well worthwhile paying a visit to award winning Lobster Pot, which is a family run pub with a national reputation for fresh home-cooked food and warm hospitality.
From the pier, there is a regular ferry service to and from Arranmore island, with several crossings a day from each end. The island is about 5km offshore, and the crossing takes about half an hour. For Tory Island and Gola Island, a ferry departs from Bunbeg pier.
The trail, which has its information points situated in the public carpark across from O'Donnells Bar near the harbour area in Burtonport, and again at the crossroads in Meenbannad, Co. Donegal is a linear walk of ca.5.5km or ca.11km return
Some of the main attractions in this part of Donegal include the majestic Glenveigh National Park and the family orientated Dunlewey Lakeside Centre. This centre has lots of different attractions to keep all the family entertained - children's play area, farm yard, boat trips, craft shop, weaving house, audio visuals, etc.
The Golf course on the peninsula of Cruit Island is within 15 minutes by car or there are several other courses within easy reach.
Nearest Village: Dungloe - 4 miles, Burtonport - 1 mile
Beaches: Arlands Strand for swimming and Keadue beach where the bay drys out allowing miles of excellent beach walks
Golf Course: Cruit island golf course - 15 min drive
Distance details: Teachín Róise is centrally located within minutes of some of the numerous summer festivals which run during the summer months, with music of all styles and markets for all types of goods including locally produced organic produce.
The kitchen and living area of Teachín Róise features a wood/turf burning stove and traditional Belfast sink. The cottage maintains the traditional layout of one bedroom either side of a central living area. A large screen tv with satellite reception and dvd are provided for your entertainment.
Forming a focal point within the central living area, the turf burning stove provides both warmth and a comforting glow to the room. Teachín Róise is a good place to stay to enjoy peace and tranquility in a rural setting. It is also in an excellent location to explore Donegal, most of which is within an hour’s drive.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms located on either side of the main living area. Both of these rooms feature solid wood flooring and wood shutters on the windows. In addition, the larger bedroom has a spacious ensuite with bath and electric shower.
The bathroom of the cottage is a relatively new addition. It forms the en-suite for the main bedroom and features a full size bath, electric shower and pine ceiling. For convenience, there is also a shower room located next to the utility room.

Congratulations on an absolutely wonderful site! I was going crazy researching availability on other sites - that did not state price, no. of rooms, bathroom facilities often (even after clicking three or four links) and also did not follow a pattern for each entry. Your site is delightful. I could go through all pages of entries and with the price details given immediately did not need to waste time over entries not within my budget.
