The cottage is a delightful, modern bungalow with three bedrooms to sleep nine. It has a main bathroom and an en suite shower room and the lounge, kitchen and conservatory boast an open plan style, with sea views from the conservatory. There is a decked patio area to the rear, on the West side, - ideal for relaxing with friends and a drink, while watching the sunset. The cottage is within 1 min drive of the golden crescent of Magheroarty beach.
The kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances and storage units, and the lounge has a traditional open fireplace. The cottage is fully insulated and has double glazing and oil fired central heating for added comfort.
It is situated in Magheroarty, (Machaire Uí Robhartaigh) up in the remote north west corner of Donegal on a part of the north coast which is just south of the off-shore islands of Inishbofin, Inishdooey, Inishbeg and Tory. Tory is the furthest of the four islands, but also the largest, so appears deceptively close when looking out to sea. Magheroarty lies west of the coastal towns of Dunfanaghy, Falcarragh and Gortahork on the R257 road which follows the Donegal coastline. It has a lovely sweeping crescent shaped sandy beach and a pier from which local fishing and ferry boats to the islands operate.
The area is an Irish speaking Gaeltacht, which has been home to a Gael Linn Irish language Summer School since 1982. The local shop, - McFaddens, is a 3 minute walk from the cottage, and there are two pubs, Dixons and Colls.
A main attraction at Magheroarty for many tourists is almost certainly its popularity as a kite and wind surfing destination. To quote from a surfing website, Both the beach and reef breaks are excellent for wind surfing and are becoming the in location for wave sailing in Ireland.
Take a ferry boat from the pier. Travel with Turasmara in safety and comfort and see the beautiful North West Donegal coastline - Magheroarty Bay, Gweedore Bay, Bloody Foreland, Horn Head, Inisbofin, Gola Island, Inismeáin, Inis Oithear and the magical isle of Tory - Toraigh na dTonn. Relax a while on this cradle of Gaelic Irish culture. Talk to the native Irish speakers and visit the famous Tormór, Colmcilles Round Tower, Balors Grave and Camusmore. Sample the hospitality of the island people. Listen to the sweet tones of the beautiful Irish language - Gaelic in everyday use. See the famous Tory painters at work and above all have your very own audience with the King of Tory - Rí an Oileain.
The kitchen, lounge and dining area share a common open plan area with the adjacent conservatory.
The fitted kitchen area has a ceramic tiled floor, modern storage units, and appliances which include an electric hob and oven, a microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, and essential crockery, cutlery and cookware.
The dining table has six seats, and the conservatory has occasional chairs and sea views.
The open plan arrangement allows for a more relaxed and informal way of socialising.
The kitchen, dining area and conservatory share a common space with the lounge.
The lounge has an open fireplace, a pair of matching 3 seat sofas, and the TV.
French doors behind the rear sofa open to an outside decked patio area.
There are three bedrooms, and the cottage can sleep up to nine.
The main bathroom has a bath, basin, toilet and a separate electric shower.
The en-suite has a basin, toilet and a separate electric shower.
