Inishowen is the largest peninsula on the island of Ireland and is crammed with fascinating historical landmarks and stunning vistas.

The seven-day tour option circuits the entire peninsula and includes a visit to Ireland’s most northerly point, Malin Head.

Along the way cyclists have the chance to see the remarkable Irish National Monument, Grianan Aileach, a ringfort built on an ancient site at the top of Grianan Hill.

The climb up Grianan Hill is challenging but rewards cyclists with incredible views over the surrounding landscape.

Another highlight of the tour is a circuit of Inch Island, an exciting rollercoaster of twists and turns, short climbs and descents through lush countryside that is a birdwatchers’ paradise.

Cycle Inishowen was founded by Blaise Harvey, a native of the area, and Michael Ogden, an émigré and former bicycle courier from England.

They have organised tours of Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Italy and Tasmania, but realised that one of the finest places they had cycled was their own backyard.

“We are passionate about our little part of Ireland and now we want to share it with a larger audience,” says Blaise.

As well as a top quality cycling experience, the Cycle Inishowen packages deliver an authentic Donegal experience, with time to sample fine local food, enjoy an evening of traditional Irish music in a lively pub, explore the history of the region and even take in a round of golf.
