Kinnegar Brewing Rathmullan
Kinnegar Brewing Rathmullan – Kinnegar Brewing is probably Ireland’s newest and smallest brewery. It makes a range of finely crafted, all natural beers. Named after the nearby Kinnegar Beach just north of Rathmullan in County Donegal, it currently produces on a nano rather than micro scale.
During the current development phase, Kinnegar beers are available locally at Rathmullan House Hotel, the White Harte Pub and the Ferry Gate restaurant. It the wider Donegal region they are available at the Mill Restaurant in Dunfanaghy, Logues Pub in Carrigart, the Red Door in Fahan and at a small number of tasting events.
They will also make sporadic, nano-brewery-style appearances at The Black Sheep pub on Dublin’s Capel Street and in McHugh’s Off-Licences in Dublin’s Kilbarrack and on the Malahide Road. Come along and try them.
THE BEERS
LIMEBURNER
The Limeburner is a Northern Pale Ale. It’s light, crisp and refreshing, like a summer’s evening with a hoppy accent at the end.
SCRAGGY BAY
Fondly known as “Yellowcap”, Scraggy Bay is a balanced coppery ale with a snappy little bite of hops.
DEVIL’S BACKBONE
Devil’s Backbone can be described as a Northern Amber Ale. It’s fuller bodied and fuller flavoured like a mellow autumnal day with a hint of chocolate thrown in.
