The restaurant itself is a split level room overlooking the New Lake. It is a small friendly restaurant offering a relaxing but efficient service. Dinner is served between 7pm and 9pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
The dinner menu changes every 4-6 weeks using fresh local produce in season. Derek and his small team produce food with a modern Irish flavour, with an emphasis on local seafood and shellfish.
House specialties include an unusual upside down fish pie, which is filled with all manner of good things – lobster, crab claws and john dory in a brandy cream sauce, and gorgeous desserts might include a seasonal fruit crumble tart with custard & ginger ice cream, as well as a good Irish cheese plate.
The restaurant has a wine license offering wine, sherry, port and bottled beer.
To make your evening special, the Mill Restaurant welcomes you to enjoy an aperitif at the open fire or conservatory while you ponder over the menu. After dinner, to complete your evening, coffee and petit fours are served in the same comfortable surroundings.
The Mill has been featured in many magazines and guides as being one of Ireland’s best places to eat, including the following recent recommendations:
