Surfing at Culdaff Inishowen

Culdaff is a tiny little village which can be found on the North East coast of the Inishowen Peninsula. Culdaff Blue Flag Beach can be found nearby and is one of the finest surfing spots in the country. It is popular amongst surfers across Europe and a number of surf schools operate from there.

It is renowned for having some of the most consistent waves in Ireland and this coupled with the well-kept golden sandy beach is what makes surfers of all skill levels from all over the country and further afield keep coming back here.

It has two rock outcrops at the South-East of the beach which are exposed at times during the tidal phase during the day. The beach itself is contained to the west by sand dunes and to the North-West by the Culdaff River.

The Inishowen Surf School has been operating from the beach since 2004 and caters for everyone from schools to stag groups. The classes are taken by Dan Gallanagh who has over three decades surfing experience and is a level 2 coach. Having surfed around the world he has been surfing and lifeguarding in Ireland for 18 years.
