Glendowen Craft Studio Donegal

Glendowen Craft Studio is a true Donegal institution which specialises in unique tweed garments and accessories. The shop also stocks a wide range of locally produced crafts including pottery, paintings, jewellery and knitwear which caters for the whole family. Everything in store is produced locally by crafts people from the area and each item goes through a stringent review process before it makes it onto the shop floor. The bulk of these highly sought after tweed garments are designed and created by Glendowen Craft Studio proprietor Ann McGonigle. Ann comes from a lineage of highly skilled crafts people and it was from her mother that she learnt how to create the fine tweed garments that she now stocks in store. Ann had been producing these high quality garments as a hobby for the best part of a decade and it was due to the ever burgeoning demand for her product that she decided to take the next logical step. Glendowen Craft Studio

In 2005 she opened Glendowen Craft Studio which acts as both her workshop and as a retail outlet for her garments and accessories. The shop also plays host to a variety of arts and crafts from other highly skilled local craftspeople. It caters for the whole family and stocks a wide selection of knitwear in a variety of styles and colours suitable for all types and sizes with each garment produced on site using only the finest locally sourced yarn.

As well as acting as a retail outlet and on site production facility Glendowen Craft Studio transforms into an entertainment hub on the 2nd Sunday of every month. It hosts a traditional Irish music session featuring an array of local talent, everyone is welcome to attend and musicians, singers and dancers are encouraged to join in.
