Gweedore Golf Club Donegal – Gweedore Golf Club is an unique and picturesque 9-hole links located deep in the heart of the West Donegal Gaeltacht. This course is another example of the exacting work of prolific Irish golf course designer Eddie Hackett. The course was originally designed in 1926 by Fr. Danny Molloy and is known locally as a superb example of everything that is good about seaside golf.

The course measures 6,202 yards with a Par of 71 and a standard scratch of, 69 off the men’s tees for 18-holes. The ladies, plays 5,387 yards with a similar par and standard scratch as the men’s. Gweedore may look easy when first surveyed, but a deceptively challenging layout makes it difficult to post a good score. The course is played from different outward and inward tees.

The course offers a variety of golf with tough par threes and a very tough par five. It’s difficult in parts, but certainly fair to all levels of golfer. On a A number of the holes big hitters will find it easier to find trouble as most balls will bounce of the hard fairways and go off in any direction! That, however, is the expectation that comes with playing a links course.

The views from many parts of the golf course are stunning with some of the holes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and offshore islands with Mount Errigal ever present in the background.

The clubhouse is charming and provides full catering in the summer months. A Cead Mile Failte is extended to every visitor who takes the time to visit this club.

For the kids – the Dunlewey Centre is only a short drive away.
