Tropical World at Alcorn’s provides families, visitors, school or youth groups or anyone who loves nature with an ideal opportunity to experience nature up close and personal in a comfortable, temperature controlled environment

This unique facility has been described by patrons as both “Donegal’s hidden gem” and the “one must see attraction to visit in Donegal”.
Tropical World is a fully licensed zoo with an astonishing array of animals, from a dazzling display of butterflies to the world’s smallest monkeys alike.
The incredible butterfly house is still the star attraction, with hundreds of amazing tropical butterflies of all shapes and sizes, all in free-flight around you as you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the rainforest.

The visitor can walk through over 1,000 square meters of stunning tropical butterflies in free flight. These exotic butterflies come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Reptiles and tortoises from many different parts of the world can be viewed at close quarters. Marvel at the colorful array of birds on display – including cockateils, conners, rosellas lovebirds, barra–bands and several species of parrots.

Visitors can take the opportunity to learn about the environment and conservation as they walk through our tropical world. They can browse through the onsite gift shop or have a tasty treat in the log cabin cafe. The visitor can also venture outside to see more pets and take in the views over Lough Swilly from the picnic area. When outside,visit Snowy the Owl, who’ll love to see you and will definitely go down a hoot with the kids.
